  • Terms and Conditions

     

    1. Entry Period

    Contest submission period commences at 8:00 a.m. MST on September 8, 2020 and ends at 11:59 p.m. MST on September 26, 2020.

     

    2. Eligibility

    The Contest is open to individuals 18 years old or older, living in the Pikes Peak Library District service area (El Paso County minus Security/Widefield). Employees of Pikes Peak Library District and their immediate families are not eligible to enter the Contest. 

     

    3. To Enter

    Contest participants will complete online entry form and upload artwork on the PPLD website. Physical entries will be only be accepted at the Manitou Arts Center (513 Manitou Ave, Manitou Springs) on Saturday, September 12, 19, and 26. Entrants may submit one entry per person.

     

    4. Submission Guidelines

    All artwork submissions must be exclusively original and must not comprise or incorporate any copyright or other intellectual property rights owned by any other person; has not been used for commercial purposes and/or been published in any media; does not contain defamatory, obscene or inappropriate content. Submissions which contain any of these elements will not be accepted.

     

    Artwork for consideration must be submitted at 300dpi and sized at 6" x 4" using the following formats: JPEG, TIFF, or PNG. Entries not submitted in the required formats will not be accepted.

     

    5. Selection

    A selection committee of five (5) PPLD staff and MAC staff will select the top five submissions. All PPLD staff will have the opportunity to vote for their top entry over the course of three days. The entry with the most votes will be deemed the winner. In the event of a tie or dispute or for any other reason the final decision will be made by the original selection committee.


    Selection committee will evaluate all qualified entries on the following criteria:

    • If the entry meets requirements for eligibility and submission guidelines
    • Artistic quality and originality of subject matter
    • How well the artwork submission fits/prints on Library Card dimensions.

    Pikes Peak Library District also reserve the right not to declare any winner if, in their sole discretion, the Submissions do not meet the qualification standards based on criteria specified herein.

     

    6. Winner Notification

    Notification of final winner will be done on October 2, 2020. PPLD will contact the winner via provided email and phone number. Prize (see Prize Terms) will be mailed to winner using address provided on entry form. Completed W-9 form will be required to claim monetary prize.

     

    PPLD reserves the right to select an alternative finalist in the event that any potential winner fails to comply with these Terms and Conditions.

     

    7. Release and Permissions

    Entrants release all exclusive rights, title and interest to their artwork submission, including copyright and any other intellectual property rights to PPLD to use, reproduce, copy, display, publish, print, post, edit, modify, and/or otherwise distribute for the purposes of creation of Library Card, promoting the Contest, and other promotional, publicity and marketing purposes without additional compensation, consideration or notification.

     

    PPLD has the right to use the winner’s name, and artwork for advertising and publicity purposes, in any media without additional compensation, consideration or notification.

     

    8. Prize Terms

    The winner will receive:

    • Name, photo and biographical information recognition in all press releases announcing the winner.
    • Artwork featured on limited edition Library Card
    • Monetary prize in the amount of one-hundred dollars ($100.00 US), payable by check in winner’s name and mailed directly to winner at address given on entry form upon receipt of completed W-9 form. PPLD accepts no responsibility for any tax implications that may arise from accepting monetary prize.

    PPLD reserve the right to award additional prizes to other Entrants than the one winner specified herein.

  • Additional Information

    Should your design be selected as the winning library card design, a PPLD staff member will reach out to you to gather final art and other necessary pieces, including a piece sized for a library card keychain.
