A Socially Distanced Art Exhibit
The Groton community enjoyed a socially distanced art reception in November, viewing large-scale paintings created by Angela Wei '21 for a Faculty-Sponsored Activity.
"In the age of masks, we surrender identity," Angela wrote, explaining one of her pieces, Lying Down and Surrendering. "We trade connection for flattened, faceless figures, floating in an aimless void. Our world has been both figuratively and literally turned upside down. The bodies are only flattened swaths of color, while the faces are patchworks of cool hues. The figures, despite their promiscuity, appear stiff and detached."
Numerous students and faculty attended Angela's FSA showcase, a welcome immersion in art at a time when the school galleries are closed due to the pandemic.
